Artist Statement
My work explores the beauty of stillness in movement—moments frozen in time through sculptural form. With an architectural eye and a deep love for craftsmanship, I create abstract sculptures that suggest fluidity, softness, and motion, even though they are made from rigid materials. Working primarily with thermoformed acrylic and polyurethane paint, I mold and shape each piece by hand, giving it the appearance of fabric caught mid-motion.
I am fascinated by contrasts—between lightness and weight, movement and stillness, softness and strength. Each sculpture is a result of intense physical labor and a deep emotional connection to the materials. What began as a search for artistic fulfillment has evolved into a passionate practice of transforming raw materials into forms that speak without words.
Biography
Analia Quijano is a Panamanian artist born in 1985. From a young age, she showed a natural talent for drawing and painting, always inspired by the creative energy of her artistic family. Though she dreamed of being an artist, she pursued a degree in architecture and graduated in 2009, channeling her creativity through design and interior architecture.
In 2014, she began painting again, but it wasn't until 2020 that she truly reconnected with her artistic voice through sculpture. Her architectural training and love for working with her hands led her to experiment with materials like acrylic and molding compounds. Today, her practice focuses on creating abstract, movement-inspired sculptures that combine technical precision with expressive form. Despite the physical demands of sculpting, Analia continues to explore and evolve her work with passion and dedication.
